Day 3 – Evian to Cinous-cel

Andrew: Switzerland has lots of up hills and down hills and roundabouts, gears and brakes did hard work today. Scenery in the mountains is beautiful, really didn’t expect this much snow to still be about this late in the year. All the rivers are in flood and dirty I suspect this is from the melting snow. This place could provide the world with power from hydro-electricity.

Debbie: Today started off hot. We left camp after pancakes and coffee in T-Shirts and shorts and watched the temp fall the higher we got into the Rhone Alps. We climbed and climbed getting closer and closer to the top of the alps covered in snow – the scenery was quite spectacular. At one point we hit a small town called Oberwald where we discovered that all the passes were closed due to snow so we had to get onto a car train that would take us through. It was quite an adventure as this train only had a small rail to stop your car from falling off and was totally open. We have found a nice, quiet campsite for the night in a place called Cinous-cel which is very close to the ski resort Davos. This campsite has amazing ablutions!! Found some divine cheese sausage grillers for dinner and tackled one of our bottles of champagne before escaping to the tent because as soon as the sun set the cold arrived ...
